Alesha Dixon’s On-Trend Oxblood Lip: Shop The Look From Luxe To Less

Read my lips – oxblood will be the hottest lip colour for winter 14’!

This fashionable lippy has been growing in popularity for the last three years. At first it was seen as a la mod – a little too cutting edge and only for the androgynous set. Think Rooney Mara’s beauty looks during her press circuit for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Last year it became a little more accessible with street style supernovas giving good lip and setting Instagram on fire. Millions of fashionable minions then gave it a whirl and it became a mini trend.

This year, though, I’m pleased to say that oxblood is no longer for the brave – anyone can wear it and rock it. The look has become as popular as your summer coral lippy. It’s a staple for your winter handbag – every girl should own a moody berry hued lipstick.

Alesha Dixon (singer, dancer, rapper and model) looked so glamorous with her dark berry stained lips at the Britain’s Got Talent photo call. Of course she was snapped attempting a high 5 with a very clever pooch, so I had to include that photo too. I don’t like to deprive my loyal Sarah What fans of cuteness!

Below are three options from luxe (expensive) to less (cheap as chips) for those who haven’t jumped on the oxblood lipstick wagon yet.

If Alesha and the three glossy pigmented lipsticks above haven’t persuaded you yet (seriously, what does it take???), here’s 3 reasons why you need to own one:

1. Oxblood lipsticks suit olive complexions as well as paler skin tones;
2. They pair back beautifully with winter nail colour shades (think chocolate, khaki and caramel);
3. This lip colour can be worn day through to night. Nothing screams chic like a bold lip paired with a LBD or with a stripy knit and ripped washed out denim.

Will you be rocking the trend?
