Friday Shelfie #5
Happy Friday beautiful people!
Nothing like taking that first breath of air as you enter the weekend, right? In this Friday Shelfie I’ve included two fab hair styling products, a delicious face mist to refresh and reduce the size of enlarged pores, a hard-working face cleansing oil and an all-over body exfoliator to prep your skin before fake tan.
Alterna Caviar CC Cream Leave-In Hair Protector
Alterna’s Caviar CC Cream Leave-In-Hair Protector is one of my all time favourite hair products for a few reasons.
- It smells like a bunch of wild flowers in full bloom;
- It really is a miracle treatment perfecting hair in 10 different ways including: providing moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength. Because of this you can simplify your haircare routine to a just a few products (shampoo and conditioner, Caviar CC Cream and hairspray if needed).
Apply this creamy balm to just washed, towel-dried strands before you blow dry your hair. Honestly, your hair will never have felt so healthy, soft and shiny.

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff 3-in-1 Body Scrub
I’m currently testing and trialling Cocoa Brown’s entire tan and body range designed by Marissa Carter. Anyone who’s an avid self-tanner knows you have to scrub off an old layer of fake tan before you even think about applying a fresh coat to avoid an uneven colour.
To help out with the exfoliation process Cocoa Brown created their popular Tough Stuff 3-in-1 Body Scrub that is pink in colour, gritty and smells like gardenia. This exfoliator 1) prepares your skin for fake tan 2) removes old fake tan still lingering and 3) is a great all-over exfoliating treatment.
I like to apply this exfoliator to an in-shower mitt and rub the formula all over my limbs in circular motions paying special attention to the feet, ankles, knees, elbows and hands (basically any body part that stains easier due to the rougher surface).

Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil
I personally think facial cleansing oils are genius. They remove makeup in the shower quicker than anything else, they are delicate and don’t tear at skin, and they hydrate instead of depleting your skin of essential oils.
I always double cleanse, so I’ll start with a cleansing oil first and then follow up with a standard gel face cleanser or exfoliator.
Shiseido’s Perfect Cleansing Oil is very light-weight and has ‘quick-removing’ technology to travel deep down in your pores and remove any nasty makeup build-up and daily grit.
The smell is gorgeous, a mix of musk and floral tones, and the oil removes stubborn eye makeup and never leaves my skin feeling greasy.
If you haven’t given a facial cleansing oil a go, you really should!

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Mist
I love French beauty brand L’Occitane. Not only do they produce beauty products that deliver real results, but they come up with new innovative releases regularly to keep us beauty girls on our toes. They also have a huge heart.
If you’ve ever purchased a L’Occitane product before you would have felt the textured brail on their packaging. This means even those who are vision-impaired can still enjoy their products. Such a beautiful touch that always makes me smile.
I’ve been really impressed with L’Occitane’s Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Face Mist – it’s refreshing and feels amazing spritzed on the face on a summer’s day.
This ultra-fine, delicately scented face mist contains peony extract to refresh the skin, reduce the appearance of pores and it also makes your skin tone look more refined. The scent is also that of peonies – who can resist that?!
I spray mine on before makeup to hydrate my skin, on hot days, and even after applying makeup to help set my finished look.

Joico Curl Controlling Anti-Frizz Styler
Fun fact: I have curly hair!
Not many people know this because I regularly rock blow-dried tresses or polka-straight, flat-ironed hair. It’s rare for me to embrace my natural curls (or kinky waves if I’m honest!).
I’ve been trying harder to wear my hair naturally curly so Joico’s fab Curl Controlling range has been front and centre in my shower over the last month. I’m going to do a full review of the range, but in particular I’m loving the Curl Controlling Anti-Frizz Styler. It’s a thick and creamy balm to help style crazy curls and keep them in control.
I find if I apply a small amount to my palms and warm before raking through my lengths (never apply to the roots) my curls look more uniform and I don’t develop annoying frizz during the day.
If you have curly hair and like to wear it with pride, this range is most definitely for you!

That’s it lovelies! I hope you all have a brilliant weekend! Let me know below if you’ve ever tried any of these products. I’d love to hear from you!
