Beauty Tutorial: 7 Steps To Achieve Australian Bachelorette Sam Frost’s Signature Makeup Look

So you’re hooked on the first ever season of the Australian Bachelorette featuring Sam Frost, the golden-haired blue-eyed babe who got her heart broken on the 2nd season of The Bachelor Australia by indecisive Blake Garvey. If you don’t know already, he proposed to Sam and then took it all back a few weeks later and ran off with another contestant! Juicy!

If you’re a regularly reader of Sarah What you’d know I follow the American Bachelor and Bachelorette pretty closely. In fact I even write detailed beauty how-to’s that show how to achieve each of the leading ladies signature looks. Here’s Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s beauty breakdown.

Sam Frost’s look is what I’d describe as ‘effortless glam’. It can be worn in so many situations (if you are currently watching this season you will know that she wore this look on her first night meeting the men as well as many of her group dates.)

So, if you’ve been wondering how to achieve Sam Frost’s grey smokey eyelids, black slick winged eye, or pretty pink pout I’ve included all the products you need (high and low end to mix it up) as well as details on how to apply each.

1. Long-wear foundation to last all day and night

i-014338-stay-all-day-foundation-concealer-no4-beige-1-940Sam Frost’s long-winded dates call for foundation that will stay perfect in all conditions. Her skin hasn’t been made up to be too dewy, so I can tell she’s wearing a long-wear foundation that is semi-matte.

To steal her perfect skin without a blemish in sight I recommend Stila’s full coverage Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer. I love how you also get a matching concealer in the lid for any problem areas!

Apply a small amount to the centre of your face (nose, forehead, cheeks and chin) and blend outwards with a large fluffy brush or beauty blender for a flawless look.

Shop it: Stila’s Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer, $65

2. Subtle highlight for a fresh glow

Sam Frost’s look isn’t overly contoured or highlighted – her MUA has opted for a more natural ‘real skin’ finish. To give her a subtle glow, however, they’ve applied a small amount of cream highlighter to the top of her brow bone, the tip of her nose and the highest point of her cheeks.

I recommend the ultra popular NARS stick illuminator, The Multiple in Copacabana. Apply just the teeniest amount in the areas listed above and blend out with warm clean fingers or the tip of a moist beauty blender. Voila! Holiday glow!

Shop it: NARS The Multiple in Copacabana, $56

3. Peachy cheeks in a flash

Either Sam is blushing after meeting all the cute men vying for her heart or she is rocking a beautiful natural peachy blush. I’m going to bet on the latter.

The blush she is wearing also has a slight shimmer to it in a very natural finish. For this reason I’m going to recommend Hourglass’ hugely popular Ambient Lighting Blush in Incandescent.

With a soft-bristled blush brush, pick up a small amount of pigment and swirl onto the apples of your cheeks and flick the brush upwards to the temples to give a lovely lifted effect.

Shop it: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Incandescent, $50

4. Smokey sultry grey eyeshadow

Sam Frost has beautiful slate blue eyes, which is why stormy grey eyeshadows make her peepers really pop. I think I’ve seen her wear grey eyeshadow on the show almost every time!

Luckily, even if you don’t have this eye colour (you might even have chocolate brown eyes like me!) grey is universally flattering so this look will suit you just as nicely.

I recommend Bourjois’ Smokey Stories Quad Eyeshadow in Grey & Night. You get four wearable colours in the ‘grey colour family’ including a white highlight, light sparkly grey, a darker variation and an opaque silver.

Run the lightest grey across the top of your lids and blend out with a small fluffy brush. Take the same brush and run it under your bottom lash line. Next take the darker pigment from the quad and concentrate it at your lash line with a smaller stippling eyeshadow brush to really define your eyes.

Place a little bit of the white highlighter shade in the inner corners of your eyes to complete and freshen up the look.

Shop it: Bourjois Smokey Stories Quad Eyeshadow in Grey & Night, $24

5. Fanned out falsies to flutter

Sam Frost’s eyelashes are constantly on point! Even evicted bachelor Drew mentioned on the second episode that she kept batting her eyelashes at him!

I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be wearing eyelash extensions, but you can achieve her long lashes at home even without a pricy visit to your local lash bar.

I recommend picking up a pair of fanned out falsies that sit longer at the outer edges of your eyes and shorter to the inner corner. This variation help to create the look of almond eyes.

I like Eylure’s Miss Flicklash that are super natural but very big on glam. Woot!

Shop it: Eylure’s Miss Flicklash False Eyelashes, $14.99

6. Black winged eyeliner for a fierce feline look

Sam knows the power of perfectly applied winged eyeliner. Her black winged eyeliner pairs really well with her flicked out eyelashes and helps to create that ‘almond shaped eye’ I mentioned above.

Because liquid eyeliner can be so tricky to apply, especially when you are trying to match one wing to the other, buying an easy-to-apply ink is extremely key.

I’m in love with Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black. The felt tip pen helps you to apply the ink in a nice neat, controlled, line. Better yet – your winged liner will last all day without smudging due to the longevity of the formula!

Shop it: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black, $29

7. Pink smooch-proof liquid lipstick

It’s a known fact that bachelorette’s do a lot of kissing. To keep Sam’s lipstick on her lips and not on the bachelors faces, her MUA has picked a liquid lipstick that has great longevity but isn’t drying on her precious pout. The light pink shade is also very feminine and suits Sam’s skin tone to a tee.

I recommend Rimmel London’s Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Nova. Apply one coat and let it dry for a minute before applying an extra layer for an intense opaque pink.

Shop it: Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Nova, $15.95

That’s it beauties! Have you been enjoying the first season of the Australian Bachelorette? Who do you think Sam will pick at the end? Let me know below!
