Review: Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Smooth Effect Makeup

Chanel Perfection lumiere Velvet Foundation

Hi honey buns,

Who’s ready for this high-end beauty swatch review?! I think that these reviews are among the most important, because buying these products usually require spending a lot of money, and I really hate to think that my readers are purchasing items that are wasting their hard earned cash. I’m going to try review at least one pricey makeup product a week (because I know we all lust after them) so that you girls know where to place your money for the prettiest face possible.

With that said, here are my thoughts on Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth Effect Foundation.

Firstly the packaging is second to none. Who can resist Chanel’s luxe monochromatic branding and simple rectangular bottle? It’s also easy to see straight away what the product is because the white against black text is very legible.

Chanel has described their foundation as having a velvet feel. I’d have to agree. As soon as I smear a glob of the light liquid onto my cheek and spread outwards towards my ear, it almost instantly vanishes and leaves my complexion looking clear, clean and powdery soft.

I found the formulation extremely light, fast absorbing and matte. This is exactly what you are looking for if you regularly have photos taken as your skin will look even and pretty much perfect as it has great coverage.

However, (and there’s always a however) if you have dry or irritated skin, you won’t like this foundation. Why? Because it doesn’t leave your skin feeling hydrated whatsoever! It literally acts as a soft full-coverage mask with no room for your skin to breath. For this reason I found that I would have preferred to wear a more dewy light reflecting foundation all day, opposed to this matte powdery one.

If you do have oily skin though, you will probably find that this foundation will balance out your skin tone and soak up excess oil. You will be majorly impressed!

Key takeaways:

1. If you have oily or combination skin you will adore this foundation for its matte finish!

2. If you have dry or easily irritated inflamed skin, you will hate this foundation and feel suffocated.

3. If you prefer glowy dewy skin this is not for you.

4. If you want matte skin (very on-trend), you will find this to be perfect!

I hope this helps everyone! If you are interested in buying this glamorous foundation you can pick it up now from your closest David Jones or Myer store for $77.
