Raw State By Emily Belle Soy Wax Candles — My Latest Obsession

If I told you that every night my apartment has been filled with the delicious scent of sea salted caramel, coconut and Balinese white mango, I’m guessing you’d either a) be extremely jealous, b) think my vivid imagination had gone one step too far or c) assume I lived bi-seasonally at a gorgeous 5 star resort on one of Bali’s hidden away islands.

The truth is, I’ve developed an obsession for one of the best things to come out of Batemans Bay (a sleepy little seaside town on the south coast of New South Wales) – a brand called Raw State By Emile Belle.

I’ve had countless friends tell me about Raw State for almost a year now. One of my best friends had a large two wick candle burning in her room last December and I had to ask her which brand it was. When she showed me the gorgeous glass jar with the clean and beach-y branding on the front (a great fit for the organic business) I recognised it instantly and knew I had to get in contact with the entrepreneurial Emily to try out a few.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been burning her signature mini metro jars (135g with 16 hours burn time) and a couple of her large jars (320g with two wicks and 70 hours burn time) around the house. I’ve trialled all different candles in the past including Ecoya, Glasshouse, Diptique, Jo Malone, Wax Lyrical, Bomb Cosmetics, Ikou, Lily Flame and much more – and here’s what I can say, Raw State is second to none when it comes to producing a full bodied aroma that creates a sense of cosy warmth and comfort in the home.

Raw State candles quickly fill the room once lit, and shortly after your whole house. The best part? This is due to Emily turning her nose up at harsh chemicals and perfumes used in a lot of other high-end designer candles. Instead, she has sourced natural botanic oils which she then blends with Australian made organic soy waxes.

Each candle jar is hand-poured by Emily herself, so you know you’re getting a bespoke service. I love all of the scents, but my two favourites are the Balinese White Mango, which Emily describes as the perfect medley of summer fruits, and the Sea Salted Caramel which features delicious sweetened condensed milk and maple.

If candles aren’t really your thing (maybe you get nervous with the thought of an unattended flame around small children), Raw State also sells pretty reed diffuses that look just as beautiful as they smell, for only $29.99.

If you’re a candle hoarder/connoisseur/obsessive like me, Emily has been generous enough to create a discount code for her online store so that you can pick yourself up a gorgeous candle that I vouch for, as well as something for your mum in time for Mothers Day! Don’t you just love when things line up like that?! Just use the code ‘sarahwhat15’ to receive 15% off your total spend – pretty amazing considering that the candles are already so well priced at just $29.99 for the large metro jars!

I hope that you all try this range for yourselves and have a loved-up, cosy and above all beautiful smelling winter!
