How To Multi-Task In The Shower And Get The Most Out Of Your Beauty Products In 15 Minutes Flat

It’s time to teach you gals how to multi-task in the shower. And, no, I don’t mean lathering up while rinsing lettuce leaves and taking a phone call à la Kramer.

I mean taking a shower that lasts no longer than fifteen minutes and emerging with everything done. That means you have given yourself a hair treatment, have newly exfoliated and shaved legs, your face has been cleansed and ‘face-masked‘ and your hair is squeaky clean.

Yes – this is all possible in 15 minutes! So many of my friends are shocked when I actually achieve this in such a short space of time. If you’re worried about water usage you can even turn off the shower during some of the process, and it will still only take you a quarter of an hour. #timemanagementskillz

Without further ado here’s how to leave your bathroom more pampered than ever before without wasting a whole night.

It’s go time

Get in the shower and drench your hair completely. Once your hair is saturated put in a hair treatment. I’m slightly obsessed with Joico’s K-Pak Intense Hydrator hair treatment, $30. It leaves your hair feeling ultra soft, smooth and shiny, the smell of this hair mask is also intoxicating (in a good way of course!). Smoother your hair in this heavenly treat and place a plastic shower cap on top to avoid washing any of it off. The plastic cap will also create a ‘greenhouse effect’ making the treatment even more potent as heat that rises from your head will be trapped in the plastic which will activate the ingredients quicker.

With your hair mask secured in the plastic cap, it’s time to wash your face. I’ve been enjoying NeoStrata’s sensitive skincare line that is also filled with anti-ageing actives, in particular their Facial Cleanser, $35.99.  It’s perfect for my sensitive skin because it doesn’t contain soap or fragrance but it still features 4% Gluconolactone and hydroxy acids which help to exfoliate my skin as well as plump up fine lines thanks to its anti-ageing properties.

Once you’ve cleansed your face it’s time to smooth on a hydrating face mask as these can be worn in the shower without the steam affecting how they work. To explain this further, you can’t wear a clay mask in the shower as the steam won’t allow it to set and dry out impurities, but you can apply a creamy based mask that aids in hydrating. For this I love using French beauty brand L’Occitane’s Immortelle Brightening Moisture Mask, $85.

This fresh smelling gel-like cream is thick and luxurious. It contains Immortelle oil, taken from a flower found growing on the coast of the Mediterranean sea. This essential oil boosts collagen synthesis, stimulates cutaneous micro-circulation which enhances cell renewal. The cream feels very cooling on the skin – you will feel like you’re in heaven! Leave on for 5 – 10 minutes.

It’s time to exfoliate your limbs! I love Lush’s Ocean Salt Scrub, $22.50/120g. Turn off the shower head, scoop out a small handful of this very textured salty scrub and with circular motions brushing up the leg, scrub away dead skin cells. The scent of lime and coconut and refreshing grapefruit will transport you temporarily to Fiji. Not only will your skin be made baby smooth thanks to the rough salt grains, but the addition of fresh avocado and violet leaf absolute will lock in moisture and calm skin. Make sure to lather all over your body avoiding your face.

Time to remove shower cap and turn your shower back on to wash out your hair treatment and shampoo hair. My all-time favourite range is Toni & Guy’s Cleanse Shampoo & Conditioner for Damaged Hair, $15.99 each. The smell is gorgeous and sexy without being overly florally and no other range can make my hair feel this shiny, clean and hydrated. A lot of my girlfriends are now hooked on this range after my recommendation – it’s that good!

With your hair conditioner still in and your face mask still on, it’s time to shave your legs and add on body conditioner. After removing all hair, turn the shower off and apply Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, $32.50. This thick and creamy conditioner will help to hydrate skin after all your exfoliating and shaving – no more scaly winter legs! This creamy in-shower moisturiser is filled with cypress oil, capuacu butter, Brazil nut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, almond oil and argan oil. I actually don’t think it’s possible to find another product as moisturising!

You are done. Towel off and get into some pjs!

Told you it was possible! How long do you normally spend in the shower? Do you shave your legs and wash your hair at the same time or during separate shower sessions? Have you used any of the products I mentioned above? Let me know!
