How-To: Detox Your Body Inside & Out In Time For Spring With Green Juices, Dry Body Brushing & Sukin’s Super Greens Skincare Range
Spring is the perfect time to re-order your life and set in place new lifestyle habits.
With the fresh warm air comes wardrobe clean-outs, apartment decluttering, diet switch-ups and general health improvements to embrace the summer to come. After all, we all want to look our best in a bikini by the time the sun is scorching.
In terms of detoxing your body, I really believe it has to be an inside-out process. That means changing up your diet for at least a week as well as taking a good look at your beauty products to make sure they align with the type of skin you want the most (ahmm – glowy and smooth!).
Here are my 3 steps to cleaning out your body both inside and out for gorgeous, smooth, clean, glowy and healthy skin in time for spring.
Spring Clean Your Body With Green Juices
You can’t expect your skin to glow if you’re still eating the naughty food that winter makes us crave. Say goodbye to the following for at least a week for amazing glowing skin:
- Alcohol (try give this up for at least a fortnight to get full benefits)
- Complex carbohydrates (white breads and starchy vegetables like potatoes)
- Sugary fizzy drinks (Coke, Fanta, Dr. Pepper – you name it!)
- Sweet and salty snacks (Chips and lollies)
- Greasy take-away (No more Pizza-Hut!)
- Excess caffeine (Try keep to 1 or 2 coffees a day and see if you can opt for a piccolo to reduce excess dairy)
- Cut out cheese (Cheeseboards are great but they aren’t the healthiest. Cut out the fromage-fest for at least a week or two)
Now replace some of the above with the following:
- Textured filling salads (lots of colour with plenty of raw nuts)
- Spicy soups (spicy soups help to kick start your metabolism and build up immunities)
- Green juices (for vitamins on a whole new level!)
- Warm lemon water (This will help to flush out any nasties laying low in your system)
- Grilled chicken and fish (Eat clean with these grilled proteins)
- Nuts to snack on (Nibble on nuts during the day to ward of your 3pm chocolate binge)
When I detox my body I like to stock up on a few delicious juices from my local juice bar (I head to Pressed Juices in Bondi). I tend to pick out the fun flavours and just a few green juices or hardcore varieties like The Slippery Elk shown below. I personally think it’s really important to enjoy your health kick instead of punishing yourself and hating every minute.
If you don’t have a juice bar near you, I recommend juicing your own power drinks at home. Here’s a recipe to help you out with your first few blends. Keep in mind the interwebz is filled with thousands of amazing juice recipes that that you can experiment with.
Sarah What’s Super Green Juice Recipe:

Detox Your lymphatic System With Dry Body Brushing
While you’re eating healthy and steering clear of bad food and drinks it’s the perfect time to start dry body brushing. Dry body brushing allows you to literally brush away dead skin cells, and detoxify your lumphatic system. The reason why this is the perfect time is because your body is now excreting impurities thanks to all the amazing powder juices you’ll by slurping.
Dry body brushing has been loved by the celebrity elite for quite some time – none other than Victoria Beckham claims it’s the reason behind her perfect cellulite-free pins.
To dry body brush simply take a panelled bristled brush and move it in circular motions pushing upwards and outwards across your skin. This will give you fantastic blood circulation which helps to breakdown stubborn cellulite that deposits itself at the back of the thighs and on top of your arms. Use before you jump into the shower at night. Dry brush your whole body 2-3 times during your detox for amazing slinky results.
You can pick up dry body brushes almost anywhere including Woolworths, Priceline and even on Net-A-Porter.
I love Mio Skincare’s Natural Dry Body Brush. This circular dry body brush is slightly larger than the palm of your hand and is crafted with natural boar bristles and rubber massage nodules perfect to eliminate dry skin and cellulite build-up.

Switch Up Your Skincare For Spring With Sukins Super Greens Skincare Range
Now that we have your diet sorted and your dry body brushing underway it’s time to think about your skincare regime.
Because you will be drinking a powerful blend of antioxidants daily, it’s crucial that you are cleansing your face with powerful natural ingredients to dislodge any dead skin and to remove the build-up of toxins that will be escaping through your pores during detox time.
When picking your spring skincare range, try to match the ingredients you’re digesting with ones you can actually apply to your face. For this reason I adore Sukin’s Super Greens range which acts like a green smoothie for your skin! Incredible.
Before you start worrying that your face will actually smell like a green smoothie, let me tell you that this entire range smells like sherbet! I know, who would have thought?
I’ve been using the Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub, perfect to also improve circulation on your face and remove dead skin cells the exact way dry body brushing works (but this time with water to emolsify) as well as Sukin’s Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum. I apply this once I leave the shower to moist skin to really help the serum to soak into my open pores. I have also been smearing on Sukin’s Super Green’s Detoxifying Clay Masque to really draw out any buried impurities in my skin. I love the way it makes my skin feel fresh and hydrated.
This entire range is sulphate and paraben free, Australian owned and made, 100% vegan, 100% carbon neutral and is not tested on animals – whoa! There is a lot to love about this natural skincare brand!
Sukin’s Super Greens range is fairly new to the market and features ingredients you would normally find in your green smoothie including kale, spirulina, chlorella and parsley.
The Detoxifying Facial Scrub even features jojoba beads and bamboo particles to scrub away at your skin in the most natural way possible – no tiny plastic beads that are horrible for the environment here!
I’ve recommended this range to so many of my friends and all of them have told me how happy they are with the range and how glowy and fresh these products make their skin feel.
Shop Them: Sukin is available at Chemist Warehouse, My Chemist, Priceline and health food stores nationally with prices starting from $11.
