Alexa Chung At Nick Grimshaw’s Birthday Party: Steal Her Burberry Prorsum Look For Less
I’ve been tracking Alex Chung’s fashion decisions over the last couple of months, and it’s only now that she’s really impressed me.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m a huge fan of the Chungmiester – she’s very fashion forward, whether that be her makeup decisions, her hair cuts or the outfits she puts together herself.
However, since the beginning of the year, she’s been playing it wayyy too safe. Take her decision to wear that cream silk dress in January (left). Seriously, I know it’s vintage and Balenciaga but it was a drab choice for a personality as bright and shining as Alexa’s.
So now that I’ve vented my spleen, you can see why I’m so happy with THIS outfit that she wore to Nick Grimshaw’s (he’s an English TV & radio presenter) birthday party.
She looks hot! I mean, look at those perfectly golden legs. She edged out this Burberry Prorsum patterned dress with a gold chain chocker necklace, a small black mini bag and on-trend lace up pointed heels. She also wore a fur stole at the beginning of the evening, which she later ditched (or lost after a few cocktails) that also looked amazing and not at all OTT.
With all the above said, I have three words for this outfit: Alexa is back!
If you’ve been in a bit of a style rut and need to show everyone that you still have some swing to your step, steal this banging look below. I’ve picked out all the key accessories, and the dress you need, in a stunning creamy white colour palette for our coming Spring (It’s only 11 days away people!).
To recreate Alexa’s look on a not-so-big Burberry budget I suggest spying For Love & Lemons. They make amazing boho pieces, check out their flowing dresses, lace bralettes and festival frocks. You will seriously swoon. This dress can be picked up for $216 from The Trend Boutique.
No look is complete without the right accessories. Get them wrong and your whole look will be a shambles. Although Alexa paired her dress with darker pieces, we need to stick to a light and creamy colour palette to match the dress. I also think this is a huge bonus for us girls in Aus. We’re heading into the warmer months and anything too dark will make us swelter in the heat.
I sourced an amazing pair of pointed white lace up pumps from The Iconic by Spurr for only $49.95 (what a steal!).
You can find many chocker chain necklaces these days, but because this trend is here to stay I suggest you place a little more money into this piece as you’ll probably wear it with many looks. I chose the gorgeous Nebula Chain Chocker by Mimco for $129, it’s made from chocolate plated brass.
Lastly, to seal the deal I had to find a mini bag like Alexa’s in a sweet tan colour. I fell in love with Lauren Merkin’s Stevie Saddle Bag from Shopbop. It’s made from buttery calf skin leather and is $417 – you’ll wear it all summer because it’s light weight and so versatile.
What do you guys think of Alexa’s look? Is this a style you’ll try yourself?
