Phoebe Tonkin, Isabel Lucus & Margot Robbie: Hollywood’s Best Dressed Australian Actresses
Right now, as you’re going about your daily rituals, there are three Australian actresses that are taking Hollywood by storm. Some will say it’s for their beauty, others would put it down to their cutting edge style, but if we’re all completely honest with ourselves, we know it’s because their incredibly talented actresses.
Margot Robbie, Isabel Lucus and Phoebe Tonkin have all been working hard on new projects in the US. They’ve been photographed at a plethora of parties while promoting their new films and TV shows, and luckily for us, we’ve been able to take in their latest sartorial offerings! Read on to see what they are working on now and cast your eyes on their most flattering and fashionable finds.
Phoebe Tonkin recently attended the Humane Society of the United States’ 60th Anniversary Gala in Beverly Hills. She wore an unforgettable Chanel dress with a high-low hemline, and laser printed leather appliqué that decorated her neckline. I love the fun bursts of colour that contrast with the simple and chic spaghetti straps.
Phoebe is currently starring in an American TV show called The Originals which first aired last October. It’s a spin off from the very popular TV series The Vampire Diaries. In this mysterious supernatural show she plays the role of a werewolf called Hayley. Due to the success of the show in the US right now, I’m certain this series will make it’s way to our screens here in Australia.
Isabel Lucas attended the screening of her new short film Engram in New York City wearing a phenomenal Prabal Gurung blue cocktail dress. Gorgeous tiers of organza ruffles form a spherical motif at the centre of her gown – sublime!
Isabel wore Prabal Gurung for good reason. Her new role in the short film Engram is a creative collaboration between Prabal Gurung and Maggie Betts who are longtime friends.
Betts, who wrote and directed the 25-minute short film about an elderly couple who meet on a subway platform but didn’t realise they have a shared past, says the project came about because she “wanted to do something intensely visual but that still had a real narrative arc.”
All of the costumes worn by Isabel in the film are by Prabal Gurung so it really will be a fashionable feast once it’s released to the public.
I’m loving her new brunette locks which contrasted beautifully with the loud cherry red jumpsuit. The off-the-shoulder neckline is also a sexy option. It allowed Margot to show off just the right amount of skin.
On the night Margot picked up the Best Newcomer Award. This doesn’t shock me at all. Not after her blockbuster success in Wolf of Wall Street and her long list of films she’s currently working on that will no doubt catapult her to further success and fame.
This long list includes a role in Matthew Michael Carnahan’s upcoming film Violent Talent. She will also appear in Suite française, an adaptation of Irène Némirovsky’s novel. She’s set to star in the upcoming comedy Focus, opposite Will Smith. She will also star in the film adaptation of Z for Zachariah, along with Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor. And finally she will be appearing in David Yates’s Tarzan as Jane opposite Alexander Skarsgård.
I’ve got a feeling that after Tarzan is released in 2016 – Margot will need to sit down and take in a big breath of air – she has a lot ahead of her!
Who is your favourite Australian actress? And, from the above, who do you think got the fashion formula right?
