FASHION WEEK FOR DUMMIES: MERCEDES BENZ NYFW S/S 2015 – DAY 2

new-york-fashion-week

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week (NYFW) need not be so hard to navigate for the mere mortal. Why should only the fashion posse have a heads up on what we’ll be wearing come spring/summer next year?

To save any awkward moments when you’re chatting with that ‘fash-forward’ girlfriend of yours, I’ve decided to dilute NYFW and summarise what shows you need to know about and what trends actually matter.

Click back throughout the week to get your stylish summary.

Here’s Day 2.

Cushnie et Ochs

Cushnie et Ochs NYFW SS AW2
Cushnie et Ochs presented a collection to flatter the female form. From high-waisted pants to crop tops that sat perfectly across the bust, these wearable separates would blend in effortlessly with your existing wardrobe.

Trend: Mimic Cushnie et Ochs shredded hemline by purchasing a ribbed body-con dress that sits at the knee. Cut equal slits across the hemline. Make sure to sew up the sides to avoid fraying.

Suno

SUNO NYFW SS AW1

SUNO NYFW SS AW3Suno impressed me with their print-on-print collection. Flowers were paired with geometric shapes, and floaty skirts were juxtaposed with sporty tees. Suno proved that this season, anything goes.

Trend: Get this look fast by pairing a feminine full skirt with a more sporty short sleeved tee. Perfection.

Jason Wu

Cushnie et Ochs NYFW SS AW6

Cushnie et Ochs NYFW SS AW8Jason Wu was all about side slits and maximum draping in a variety of materials including suede, silk and stretch nylon. The fashion superstar stuck to earthy tones like desert red, khaki green and bloody maroon.

Trend: Purchase skirts that feature a side split and tops that drape across the bust, then pair together. Too easy really.
